Trends You Shouldn’t Wear in Your Twenties. Or Ever.

There comes a time in all of our lives when we finally realize that we are too old for some fashion trends. Trust me, I know it’s hard to accept it, but there are some things better left in teenage years. No matter how much you want to, it is time to let go of those neon jeans and body jewels from university days, and begin your life attempting to be half as classy as Jessica Alba.

No matter how much you want to, these items should definitely make the cut from your twenties wardrobe:

1. Platform Sneakers

No matter how much you want to, it is time to put those platform converse into the box for charity. You are strong. You can do this! Treat yourself with a nice pair of platform heels and call it even.

2. Bandanas

Yes, they made you look cute and artsy at college – but in the office, they may be a bit much! You can still sneak one out on your odd day cleaning your apartment, but bandanas don’t really spell “sophistication” – no matter how much you want them to.

3. Bare Midriffs

No matter how much you want to, midriffs tops should remain in your teenage closet and not enter your twenties ones. If your abs look like Miley’s – then go ahead, you have the golden right to show them off. If not – just don’t do it!

4. Coloured Leather

Unless you are joining the Pink Ladies anytime soon, you should throw out that pink* (*insert color here) leather jacket.

5. Tie & Dye

No. Just no, and no reason needed.

6. Plastic Jewelry

It was okay when you were 5, but in your twenties – it’s no to plastic, stickon and glow-in-the-dark.

    • Yes – I am sure that’s a time when you have to re-evaluate the leather leggings and let go of high-waisted jeans. But every age comes with it’s benefits 🙂

  1. Haha I love this! I don’t think I wore most of these in my teens either. I’ve never been able to pull of a bare midriff! Although, since watching Kirstie’s Christmas Crafts I do have the urge to tie die underwear…it doesn’t count if no one can see it, right???
