The Awkward Moment when the World didn’t End…

The countdown to the world ending started right after the previous world ending extravaganza at the end of 1999. The Millennium was welcomed with numerous mass suicides and well-prepared individuals who were disgruntled by the fact that life goes on…

Now there were numerous theories floating about regarding the end of the world. Some believed that there would be a massive flood (Noah’s Arc part 2), while others were under the delusion that there would be a massive explosion where the earth would cease to exist. Personally, I would be fine with either as it would mean that the world would end, everyone would die – what would be the point of preparation?

This is the one thing that bothered me about the world ending. Everything we hold dear and close to us would be finished – therefore what would be the point to take measures and save ourselves? If the world was indeed ending, I would rather just pray and then die so I would be out of the misery to live in the world that is vacant of everything I know of.

On a brighter note, the Mayans were wrong indeed since I am writing this post after 21st December 2012. This means that I am alive, and so are you – the world did not end. Maybe they just got bored of making their calender, maybe they realized that they were just wrong, or maybe there was an earthquake and they thought it was the end of the world.

Clearly, they weren’t the advanced civilization we thought they were since they didn’t invent WiFi, computers or even a simple satellite. Then I ask the simple question: when is the next end of the world and will we still be sitting here after all that fuss about it? Until then, lets just be happy we are alive and keep on going with our lives…
